Always remember to keep your dog’s comfort in mind during grooming sessions. Ensure the blades are sharp and well-maintained to prevent pulling on their fur, and gradually introduce new tools, allowing your dog to become accustomed to the sound and sensation.

]]>Some dogs have simple grooming needs, while others, especially those with long, thick, or curly coats, require more complex grooming techniques. A professional groomer might be the better option if your dog’s coat requires extensive or specialized care.
Consider your experience and comfort level with grooming. If you have never groomed a dog before, or if you’re not comfortable using grooming tools like clippers and scissors, using a professional service might be safer and less stressful for you and your dog.
Professional grooming can be costly, especially if your dog needs to be groomed frequently. If cost is a concern, and your dog’s grooming needs are relatively straightforward, learning to do it yourself could be more economical in the long run.
Grooming a dog yourself can be time-consuming, particularly at first when you’re still learning. It also requires a lot of patience, both from you and your dog. If you have the time and patience to learn and perform grooming tasks, it could be a rewarding experience.
Professional groomers have access to high-quality equipment and products. If you choose to groom your dog at home, you must invest in the right tools, which can be an initial expense.
Grooming your dog at home can be a great bonding experience. It allows you to spend quality time with your pet and can help build trust between you.
Professional groomers are trained to handle dogs safely and to spot health issues like skin problems, ticks, or ear infections. A professional might be a better choice if you’re not confident in your ability to do this.
Consider whether you can achieve the desired results at home. Professional groomers are skilled in making dogs look their best, which might be necessary if your dog’s appearance is your priority.
Ultimately, the decision depends on your circumstances, your dog’s needs, and personal preferences. You might also consider a hybrid approach – doing basic grooming at home (like brushing and minor trimming) and visiting a professional for more complex tasks like haircuts and nail trimming.

Remember, while these products can provide support and relief from symptoms, they are not a replacement for veterinary care. If your dog shows severe symptoms, such as prolonged coughing, difficulty breathing, and extreme lethargy, or if symptoms worsen, it’s crucial to seek veterinary attention immediately. Canine influenza and other respiratory conditions can have complications if not addressed appropriately.

Swimming Pool Floating Bumper Toys: The second our boys see these toys come out, they know it is playtime! These brightly colored toys float and are easy to see in the pool. One good feature about this toy is that it has a rope on it. The rope makes it easier to get the toy back from an excited dog who doesn’t want to let it go. However, be aware that it is not a chew toy. After playing with your dog, you will want to put this toy away where the dogs cannot reach it.
Dog Throwing Stick Fetching Toy: This bright green toy is easy to see in the pool. It’s effortless to clean and is also perfect for a game of fetch, whether in the swimming pool or not.
Dog Float Raft For Swimming Pool: This raft has brought our crew tons of joy and laughter. Our dogs love to get in the raft and float around. Our boy Erney runs and jumps into the raft, sailing it across the pool. We always think he will puncture it as he is nearly 100 pounds flying through the air and landing in the raft. But we’ve had one since 2018, and it has survived all of his crazy jumping. We love this raft so much that we bought a second one. The large raft is for dogs 65 pounds and up. It also comes in a smaller size for dogs under 65 pounds.
Fun and Powerful Squirt Gun for Swimming Pool: Our boy Erney loves this toy! To be clear, it is NOT a dog toy, and we do NOT recommend shooting your dog in the face with a water gun. It is a great toy for getting your dog to chase a water stream. We like to shoot the water at the raft listed above and watch as Erney tries to catch the water by jumping into the raft. It’s a good time for all!
Amphibious Bumper Fetch and Float Dog Toy: We are big fans of Chuckit! Toys and this one is no exception. Unlike the previously mentioned bumper toys, these Chuckit! bumpers are made of a softer foam, rather than a hard plastic. These toys also come with an attached rope, making it easier to pick up and extract from an excited dog.
Coolaroo The Original Cooling Elevated Dog Bed: They like to lie on their Coolaroo beds after playing in the pool. These beds are elevated off the ground and help our boys dry off and keep cool. The Coolaroo is great for outdoor use as it is easy to clean. We take the hose to it, rinse it off, and it is clean. It’s also an eco-friendly option, which is always a bonus.
Outward Hound Granby Splash Orange Dog Life Jacket: When we first moved into a house with a pool, we purchased these life jackets for our dogs. It didn’t take long to realize that our guys are natural swimmers. After ensuring they knew the swimming pool exits and how to get out of the pool, we allowed them to swim without these life jackets. Some dogs may be better off keeping the life jacket on while swimming or lounging in the pool. These jackets are made of a ripstop material and are very durable. They also come with a handle at the top of the life jacket, making it easy to get your dog out of the water.
There you have it, a list of our top swimming pool toys for dogs. Summer will be here soon, and we look forward to returning to the water!

Gorilla Supply Dog Poop Bags: These bags are known for their durability and leakproof design. They are made with EPI technology, which helps them break down faster, making them a more environmentally friendly choice. You can get them in a pack of 1,000, which is cost-effective, and they come with a bag holder for easy dispensing.
Potaroma Dog Poop Bags: These bags are thick, made from cornstarch and glycerin, and are environmentally friendly. They come with a lavender scent to mask odors and include a bag dispenser that doubles as an LED flashlight, which is handy for nighttime walks. The downside noted by some users is that the bag dispenser can break easily.
Amazon Basics Dog Poop Bags: These bags are generally well-received by customers, known for their practicality and affordability. These bags balance functionality and value, making them a practical choice for many dog owners. They are appreciated for their ease of use and the inclusion of a dispenser, which adds to their convenience.
Earth Rated Dog Poop Bags: These bags have garnered positive reviews for their quality and ease of use. They come in unscented varieties and are appreciated for their leakproof and extra-thick material, making them suitable for big and small dogs. However, they are not biodegradable, which might concern environmentally conscious users.
Doggy Do Good Biodegradable Poop Bags: These are biodegradable and certified compostable bags made from cornstarch and designed to break down within 90 days. They are extra thick and leakproof. While environmentally friendly, they are more expensive and come in smaller quantities than others.

Their large size (9 x 13.5 inches) is appreciated by users, as it provides ample space for waste without any messes.
Arm & Hammer Assorted Disposable Waste Bags: These are thick, sturdy bags made with baking soda to absorb odors naturally. They come in a variety of quantities and are praised for their strength. However, they are smaller than other bags and are not biodegradable.
One caveat is to buy the biodegradable and compostable bags in an amount that is usable for your foreseeable future. We once had a roll of these bags fall behind a shelf and get lost for about a year. When we pulled the bags out to use them, they crumbled like ash.
When choosing the best dog poop bags for your needs, consider factors like biodegradability, durability, size, and any additional features like scent or included dispensers.
